The Indiana Pacers compete in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference in the NBA. The franchise was founded in 1967 as part of the American Basketball Association (ABA), where they won three championships (1970, 1972, and 1973). Since the ABA-NBA merger, the Pacers have appeared in nine NBA Eastern Conference Finals, and the upcoming series against the Knicks\Celtics will be their tenth such appearance as of May 2025.

Pacers have been to the NBA finals once since the ABA-NBA merger in the year 1999-2000, where they lost in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers. Over the years, many great players have played with the franchise, including Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Alex English, Mel Daniels, Roger Brown, and George McGinnis. The Pacers play their home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
