Jalen Hood-Schifino is an American shooting guard who plays for the LA Lakers. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Hood-Schifino's basketball journey towards the NBA began at Northside Christian Academy in Charlotte, NC. He later transferred to the Combine Academy in Lincolnton, and then to the Montverde Academy in Florida, where he flourished under the guidance of Coach Kevin Boyle.

Transitioning to college, Hood-Schifino spent a year at Indiana University, where he made an immediate impact. Starting in all 32 games, he averaged impressive stats — 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Notably, he set a freshman record for Indiana by scoring 35 points in a memorable match against Purdue, earning him the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

Entering the NBA came with its expected challenges for Hood-Schifino, as he adjusted to the professional level in his rookie season. He was sent to the Lakers’ G League affiliate the South Bay Lakers, where he averaged 22.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game in 15 games.
