He later transferred to the Combine Academy in Lincolnton, and then to the Montverde Academy in Florida, where he flourished under the guidance of Coach Kevin Boyle.

Transitioning to college, Hood-Schifino spent a year at Indiana University, where he made an immediate impact. Starting in all 32 games, he averaged impressive stats — 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Notably, he set a freshman record for Indiana by scoring 35 points in a memorable match against Purdue, earning him the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

Entering the NBA came with its expected challenges for Hood-Schifino, as he adjusted to the professional level in his rookie season.
