Jalen Marquis McDaniels is an American basketball small forward for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on January 31, 1998, in Seattle, Washington, U.S., McDaniels attended Federal Way High School. He played both basketball and football in high school. He was ranked the 98th-best prospect in the class of 2016 heading into his senior season. He averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots in his senior season, and was named an Associated Press Washington state Class 4A first-team selection. He also won the Class 4A state championship with Federal Way.

After a successful college basketball career, Jalen McDaniels was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the 52nd overall draft pick in round 2 of the 2019 NBA draft. He made his NBA debut on October 25, 2019, against the Minnesota Timberwolves, bagging two points and a rebound. He moved to the Philadelphia 76ers on February 9, 2023, as a part of a four-team trade involving the Portland Trail Blazers and the New York Knicks. After half a season in Philadelphia, McDaniels moved to Toronto. He signed a multi-year contract with them on July 6, 2023.

Jalen ​McDaniels played college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs. He red-shirted his first season with them in 2017-17. He averaged 10.5 points in 24.7 minutes per game, starting 21 out of 33 games during his freshman season. As a sophomore, McDaniels notched up 15.9 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 8.3 rebounds per game. He declared himself for the 2019 NBA draft at the end of his sophomore season. He would go on to be drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the 52nd overall draft pick in 2019.
