Jared McCain is a talented basketball player who has been making waves in the sport from a young age. His journey began at Centennial High School, where he showcased his exceptional skills and earned recognition as the California Gatorade Player of the Year not once but twice, first as a junior and then again as a senior. His outstanding performances during his high school years also earned him a spot in the prestigious 2023 McDonald's All-American Boys Game.

After his successful high school career, McCain got offers from various colleges such as Kansas, Duke, Houston, and Gonzaga. But he decided to play for Duke University. He continued to impress in college similar to his high school. As a freshman, McCain was named the ACC Rookie of the Week twice in consecutive weeks. In addition to this, Jared McCain became the second player after Zion Williamson to score a career-high 35 points in a single game in his freshman year.
