Joseph Howarth Ingles is an Australian professional basketball player who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA as of May 2025. Despite going undrafted in 2009, the veteran sharpshooter spent a few seasons in the Euroleague and was then picked up by the Utah Jazz in 2014, where he spent his first eight NBA seasons. Ingles is the Jazz's all-time leader in three-point field goals made. Ingles is completing his 11th season as the 2024-25 NBA season as of May 2025.

Ingles was born on October 2, 1987, in Adelaide, South Australia. He is married to Australian netballer Renae Ingles. The couple has three kids.

Joe Ingles Trade

Joe Ingles spent most of the 2021/22 season rehabbing with the Utah Jazz. In January of 2022, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal involving the Portland Trail Blazers. Ingles was never able to play a game in the 2021/22 season due to his knee injury. In the 2022/23 season, Ingles was signed on for a one-year minimum deal where he came off the bench and provided a solid on-court presence for the Bucks. In the 2023 offseason, Ingles was a free agent and signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Orlando Magic. On July 06, 2024, Ingles signed a 1-year, $3.3 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and is playing for them as of May 2025.

Joe Ingles' Early Career

Ingles was born in the Adelaide suburb of Happy Valley, and as a young boy, his goal was to play for the Adelaide 36ers. He was also good at Australian rules football and cricket, but gave up on both early to focus on basketball. He attended both Lake Ginninderra College and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra. Ingles represented AIS in the South East Australian Basketball League from 2005 to 2006. Ingles signed a multi-year deal with the South Dragons of the NBL (National Basketball League). He made an immediate impact in his first season, averaging 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists a game while also winning the Rookie of the Year award. He played for two more seasons with the Dragons, and over the span of those three years, he averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Ingles then decided to take his talents abroad and played in the Euroleague. In 2009, he signed with CB Granada of the Liga ACB, where he played for one season. In 2010, Ingles was transferred from CB Grenada to FC Barcelona. He signed a three-year contract with the club, and after he finished three seasons there, he announced that he wouldn’t be signing with them in the future. In 2013, Ingles signed with the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv, playing for future NBA head coach David Blatt, and went on to win the 2013/14 Euroleague Championship.
