With offers from Providence, North Carolina, Syracuse, Rhode Island, San Diego and more, Kelly chose Gonzaga University for his next phase in Basketball.


Kelly Olynyk’s true potential took shape during his junior year where he averaged 17.8 points 7.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. That year, Olynyk played a significant role in helping the Bulldogs take home the Conference Championship by averaging 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game. For his contributions to Gonzaga during the 2012-13 season, Kelly Olynyk received Consensus All-American and WCC Player of the Year honors.

Kelly Olynyk represents Team Canada in International competitions. Regular Canadian Basketball enthusiasts might not know that Kelly has played for Canada on nine separate occasions (not counting the warm-up/preparation games).


Kelly first played for Canada’s Junior Men’s National Team in the FIBA U18 Americas Tournament. In 2009, Kelly was part of Team Canada’s FIBA U19 World Championship campaign. He averaged 11.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks in nine games.


Kelly got his first call-up for the Senior Men’s team in 2010 for the FIBA World Championship. He averaged 8.3 points and 2.3 boards per contest. His notable performances in the tournament were against France (13 points), and Spain (14 points).


In 2015, Kelly took part in the FIBA Americas Championship (now FIBA AmeriCup). He put up 11.9 points, 7.5 boards, and 2.3 assists per game and helped Canada win the Bronze Medal.


Kelly couldn’t make the final roster for the 2019 FIBA World Cup due to a knee injury, but played his role in the Qualifiers, averaging 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.


Kelly came in handy for Team Canada during this year’s FIBA World Cup qualifiers by averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Olynyk has avoided any long-term injuries thus far and looks to be healthy as the World Cup approaches.


Kelly Olynyk’s other notable tournament appearances for Canada include Tuto Marchand Cup (2011, 2015) and the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship (2011).
