The Bulldogs alumnus is of Nigerian descent, but represents the Canadian National Team in the international competitions. He is currently acting as a starter for the Utah Jazz, and rendering his service as a forward to the team.

The forward is also part of the Canadian roster for the World Cup which is set to take place after a few days in the Philippines, co-hosted by Indonesia, and Japan. As of now, the team is done with their tune-up matches. They only face a single defeat in their five exhibition matches. Beside Germany, they have triumphed over New Zealand, Spain, and Dominican Republic, and in all this Olynyk has acted as an offensive threat for the team along with the guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Last season with the Utah Jazz, the forward was provided with an opportunity to start all the games (68), he capitalized the chance, and scored an average 12.5 ppg, 6.2 RPG with a proficient free throw percentage of 82. Although the team was unable to advance their journey to the playoffs, but for him it was a positive season, comparatively from the past few.

Kelly Olynyk’s Position

Kelly Olynyk, 32, plays at the position of a power forward or sometimes as a Center also. He defends the rim very well and can even exploit the less agile defenders when off-the-dribble. Additionally, he is good at making jump-shots, and due to his big size he can cover more surface of the floor at a time. Hence, he has been a constant hassle for the team.

The 6’11’’ Forward wears the Number 41 jersey for the Utah Jazz. The upcoming 2023-24 season will be the tenth year for the player. He was a first-round draft pick for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2013 draft, In his debut year the forward showcased a powerful performance, and got selected as the member of NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

As such, the forward has not donned the National Jersey too much. In 2019, he was also included in the Training Camp with the Canadian Team for the FIBA World Cup in China, but due to an injury in a practise match against Nigeria, he was out of the tournament.

In 2022, the long-haired forward has agreed on playing with the Senior Team of Canada for the next three years.
