Kelly Tyler Olynyk is a Canadian basketball player. He has played for a variety of teams in the NBA in the past like the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons. He is now playing in the Forward-Center position for the Utah Jazz in the NBA. Kelly Olynyk was born on April 19, 1991 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He played college basketball for the Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, United States. He made his NBA debut during the 2014 Rising Stars Challenge. He has since then impressed the fans with his basketball skills and gained several achievements. These include being WCC Rookie of the Year in 2013, member of the Consensus First Team All-American in 2013 and member of the NBA all-Rookie Second Team in 2014. He was also the First Team Academic All-American in 2013. Besides playing for the NBA, Kelly Olynyk has also represented Canada at the 2015 FIBA AmeriCup in Mexico City, Mexico.

Olynyk has so far notched up a PPG of 12.5 with a RPG of 6.2. APG of 3.7 and a PIE of 10.0 in his NBA career. He will play for the Canada National Basketball Team in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Kelly Olynyk’s father is Ken Olynyk. He was a basketball coach, having coached over 40 teams ranging from high schools to the NBA. He was the head men’s basketball coach at University of Toronto. He also coached Canada Junior Men’s National Basketball Team and is notable for removing Steve Nash from the team. He is currently the athletic director at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.

Ken Olynyk coached and guided his son Kelly Olynyk. He always advised his son to work harder than the next man which would eventually lead him to success. Kelly Olynyk credits his father for the position he reached so far in his basketball career.
