A consensus five-star recruit, and one of the best players of the 2016 class as considered by ESPN, Scout, Rivals and 247sports, Malik Monk is a professional basketball player from the United States who plays as a shooting guard for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. Malik attended East Poinsett County High School and played high school basketball for his highschool team. He led the team to the Class 2A state championship game as a freshman.

Monk transferred to Bentonville High School after his freshman year. He competed in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League for the Amateur Athletic Union team, Arkansas Wings Elite. Monk was the MVP for the Nike Global Challenge of 2015 for the East team. He played in the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic and was awarded Co-MVP for his performance. He was the no. 1 shooting guard in the 2016 high school class and ranked as the 9th overall recruit.

Monk played collegiate basketball for the University of Kentucky and performed remarkably as a freshman. He was named SEC player and Freshman of the Year. He was named to the First-Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman team.
