However, soon he left the WKC campus without informing authorities, before the season began and was eventually suspended indefinitely. Robinson sat out for the 2017-18 season and returned in August 2017 and announcing that he would forgo college altogether and prepare for the 2018 NBA draft independently.

In his rookie season, Robinson impacted the court with 2.4 blocks and 3.7 offensive rebounds per game. Also, he had a game with 9 blocks against the Orlando Magic in November 2018, and was named to the All-Rookie second team. However, in his second season (2019-20), Robinson broke the record of Wilt Chamberlain's highest field goal percentage in a single season (74%).

The 2024-25 season is Robinson's seventh season with the Knicks, and he is averaging 7.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in 337 games played in his career.
