Despite coming off the bench for the Seminoles in the entire 2019-20 collegiate season, Williams quickly established himself as a vital rotational piece in the team's success, showcasing his versatility and impact on both ends of the court. Throughout his freshman campaign, Williams displayed flashes of brilliance, dazzling fans and NBA scouts alike with his dynamic skill set.

During his only season at Florida State, Williams averaged 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game off the bench. Despite not starting a single game, Williams ranked as the team's fourth-leading scorer and led the Seminoles in both free throw shooting percentage (.838) and blocked shots (30). His defensive prowess, highlighted by his shot-blocking ability, was instrumental in the Seminoles' success, as they finished the college season ranked among the nation's leaders in several defensive categories.

Offensively, Williams showcased his all-around scoring prowess, scoring double-digit points in 13 of his 29 games as a freshman.
