Larsson grew up in Nacka, Sweden, and played two solid seasons with RIG Luleå and BC Luleå in the Swedish Basketball League. In his first season at the top level, he was named the league's star of the year, averaging 7.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.

Seeking to enhance his basketball journey, Larsson made the move to the United States in 2020, joining the Utah Utes. Following a single season with the Utes, he then transitioned to the Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team in 2021.

In his sophomore season (2021-22), Larsson continued the Wildcats' trend of excellence off the bench, becoming the Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year. Larsson appeared in all 37 games, starting twice, and maintained solid averages of 7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

During the 2023-24 season, Larsson achieved significant recognition, earning Second-team All-Pac-12 honours and being named a Second-team Academic All-American. His impressive on-court performance included averaging 12.4 points, 3.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Notably, Larsson reached a milestone by becoming the 55th player in Arizona history to score 1,000 points as a Wildcat, achieving this feat with a jumper during a game at UCLA. Additionally, he became the only player in the country to record 1,200 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists, and 100 steals while shooting 49% from the floor and 39% from the 3-point line over the previous four seasons (2020-21 through 2023-24).
