The 6 feet 3 inches guard, Russell Westbrook III, is an American professional basketball player. As of May 2025, he plays for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA. He played for Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California, United States, during his high school years. He averaged 25.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game as per his college roster during his senior season at Leuzinger.

Later, Westbrook joined the UCLA Bruins men's basketball team, which represents the University of California, Los Angeles. He played in 75 games, starting 35 of them, during his two seasons at UCLA, where he averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and one steal per game as per his college roster.

Oklahoma City Thunder (2008-2019)

Russell Westbrook was the fourth overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NBA draft. The first team he played for was the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was named an NBA All-Star with the OKC multiple times. Additionally, he earned the All-Star MVP title twice in 2015 and 2016. Russell Westbrook was in prime form during the 2016-17 season, and he scored 42 triple-doubles. Thus, he became the second player after Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double for a season and was called the 2017 NBA MVP. He was a two-time NBA scoring champion; therefore, he led the league in most points. In 2015 and 2017, he averaged 28.1 points and 31.6 points throughout the season.

Houston Rockets (2019-2020)

In 2019, Russell Westbrook was traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Chris Paul. He was with his former teammate, James Harden, there. Westbrook only played for one season there; he completed 19,000 points, 6,000 rebounds, and 7,000 assists and became the third player in NBA history to hold these numbers.

Washington Wizards (2020-21)

Russell Westbrook was traded to the Washington Wizards for John Wall. Here, with the Wizards, he broke some historic records. Westbrook was the only player in NBA history who has scored at least 25 triple-doubles in four different seasons. Additionally, after scoring his 182nd triple-double against the Atlanta Hawks, he surpassed the Oscar Robertson record for the most triple-doubles.

Los Angeles Lakers (2021-2023)

In 2021, Russell Westbrook was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. This was his fourth team in the last three years. The 2021 season was the downfall year for Westbrook; his three-point shooting percentage fell to 30%, faced a lot of criticism for his poor gameplay. Hence, the Lakers often used Westbrook as a sixth man.

Los Angeles Clippers (2023- 2024)

Russell Westbrook signed with the LA Clippers, reuniting with his OKC teammate, Paul George, and the key player for the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard. He scored 17 points and 14 assists in his debut for the Clippers. The same season, the Clippers qualified for the playoffs, but unfortunately were eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs. He was traded to the Utah Jazz on July 18, 2024.

Denver Nuggets (2024 - Present as of May 2025)

After being traded to the Utah Jazz, Russell Westbrook joined the Denver Nuggets after being waived by the Jazz on July 20, 2024. Westbrook signed a two-year contract with the Nuggets worth $6,772,731 on July 26, 2024, as per Spotrac. As of May 6, 2025, he has played 75 games, scoring 994 points, grabbing 370 rebounds, and making 457 assists.
