Terrence Shannon Jr. is a professional basketball player who plays as the shooting guard-forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was born on July 30, 2000, in Chicago, Illinois. In the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him with the twenty-seventh overall pick. He agreed to a four-year contract worth $13,076,519, which included an average salary of $3 million and a $5 million guarantee. Since then, he has played for the Timberwolves and their affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, in his rookie season, according to Spotrac.

Shannon scored 4.3 points per game on average in 32 games during the 2024–25 regular season. Before college, Terrence Shannon Jr. attended Lincoln Park High School and later went to the IMG Academy.

Terrence Shannon Jr.'s college career

Terrence Shannon Jr. got offers from Wake Forest, Florida State, DePaul, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, and Illinois, among others. Initially, he committed to DePaul but later signed with Texas Tech in July 2019. In his three seasons with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Terrence Junior averaged 11 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and one steal per game.

Terrence’s most productive season was his sophomore year, where he averaged 12.9 points, 4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 45% shooting. In 2022, he transferred from Texas Tech to play for another school to play for Illinois Fighting Illini. After entering the transfer portal on March 25, 2022, it was not until late April 2022 that he was officially a part of the University of Illinois Basketball program. In his two seasons at Illinois, Terrence averaged 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

Terrence Shannon Jr. attended Lincoln Park High School in Chicago. In his senior year, Shannon Jr. averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, earning All-State and All-City honors. With an incredible 45 points, he guided his team to a regional championship. Terrence later moved to Florida to attend IMG Academy to increase his chances of receiving an NCAA Division I offer. Scouts rated him a four-star prospect. Ranked 92nd on the ESPN 100, Shannon Jr. attracted many college recruiters after his successful AAU season with the Mac Irvin Fire (via Illinois' player roster).
