ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong teased a potential Aung La N Sang-Brandon Vera rematch on Filipino TV, citing that it would be another “barnburner” of a fight.

Back in 2019 at ONE: Century Part II, Brandon Vera, who was the ONE heavyweight world champion at the time, went down a weight class to challenge Aung La N Sang in his first and only attempt at becoming a two-division world champion.

As soon as the bell rang in Tokyo, both warriors came out swinging with fierce conviction to get that early finish. Each had their moments, but it was Aung La who ultimately came out on top with a brutal TKO victory in the second round to retain the ONE light heavyweight world title.

Recalling the historic event between the two legendary warriors, Chatri Sityodtong said that he would like to see Brandon Vera get another shot at Aung La in the near future.

He told CNN Philippines:

“Yes, of course, you know, Aung La N Sang and Brandon Vera was a barnburner of a fight. I don't know what happened. But that night it was clear that something was off in Brandon's cardio, so I think Brandon would like another shot. It's not every night you come out and you're on your A-game. That's not to take anything away from Aung La. It was an absolute war. And I think the fans want to see it again. And I think they want to fight again.”

Chatri Sityodtong announces Brandon Vera’s return to the circle at ONE 164 in December

Under the same breath, Chatri Sityodtong announced Brandon Vera’s return to the circle at ONE 164 on Saturday, December 3.

'The Truth’ is scheduled to face rising heavyweight star Amir Aliakbari on a stacked fight card in Vera’s hometown of Manila, Philippines. Apparently, there’s some bad blood between the two rivals that began two years ago when Alikabari first signed under the promotion. The two giants will now hash it out in a thrilling three-round heavyweight bout as Vera attempts to redeem himself on the global stage following two straight losses.

With that said, Chatri Sityodtong anticipates another grueling fight as both compete for a chance to get back onto the heavyweight train:

“Amir has talked trash to Brandon. Brandon originally wanted to welcome Amir, and now we have it – two heavyweight giants, two heavyweight KO artists. I guarantee this fight is going to end in the first or second round.”
