Yarns committed to the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football team in 2021. As a freshman that spring, he played just one game before a broken leg sidelined him for most of the season. In the fall, he saw limited action, 23 carries for 80 yards over eight games. As a sophomore in 2022, Yarns came out with 73 rushes for 481 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 6.6 yards per rush. During his junior season, 2023, he ran for 939 yards and 15 touchdowns and had an average of 6.9 yards per game. He was a third-team FCS All-American and a second-team All-CAA.
