He played point guard and attended Waubonsie Valley and John Marshall Metropolitan High Schools. As a senior at John Marshall, he led the state in scoring with 37.3 points per game and was named Co-Player of the Year.


Beverley averaged 13.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game during his rookie campaign. Additionally, he was selected Freshman of the Year and to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2007.
