K.H. Lee and Ben Griffin have pulled out of the PGA Championship 2024 ahead of Day 3. Both were supposed to resume their incomplete second round on Saturday, May 18.

On Friday, May 17, both Lee and Griffin were through sixteen holes of the second round of the PGA Championship when play for the day was suspended due to darkness. For the uninitiated, the second round started an hour and twenty minutes late due to a fatal accident near Valhalla. It was also delayed due to Scottie Scheffler's shocking arrest for disobeying police commands.

On Saturday morning, PGA Tour communications released the statement that both Lee and Griffin had withdrawn from the PGA Championship 2024 ahead of the resumption of the second round.

Both players were tied for 123rd place at 3-over after the 34th hole. Lee shot a 3-over 74 in the opening round, where he bogeyed three holes, made one double bogey, and sank a couple of birdies.

In the second round, Lee was 2-under on the front nine but then made back-to-back double bogeys, followed by another bogey on the back nine. His third birdie of the day came on the par-4 seventh, which proved to be his last hole of this year's PGA Championship. This was his second missed cut at the event and his first since 2021.

Griffin, who was making his second start at the event, began with a birdie on the par-4 12th but then made one double bogey and three bogeys on the next five holes. He made three birdies but also added another bogey on the back nine.

After carding a 2-over 73 in the first round, Griffin couldn't do any better in the second round. He made three birdies and two bogeys and was 1-under for the day before entering the par-4 16th hole. However, he made two back-to-back double bogeys to finish the day at 5-over. This was his second straight missed cut at the PGA Championship.

The resumption of the PGA Championship 2024, Round 2, gets delayed due to fog

The resumption of the second round of the PGA Championship 2024 has been delayed due to the heavy fog at the Valhalla Golf Club. The announcement was shared on the official X account of PGA Tour Communication.

So far, the PGA Championship 2024 has witnessed slight delays on all three days. While fog was the reason for the delays on two days, the unfortunate accident and what transpired next caused the delay on Friday, May 17.

As of now, Xander Schauffele has a 36-hole lead at the Valhalla Club. He fired a 3-under 68 in the second round to aggregate at 12-under and take a one-stroke lead over Collin Morikawa.
