The 2024 PGA Championship was a memorable one for Bryson DeChambeau. Even though he did not win the event, his runner-up finish captured the audience's heart. Despite being a part of the LIV Golf Series, DeChambeau found himself right at home and became a crowd favorite by the final day of the event.

He finished second by just one stroke to Xander Schauffele, who took his first major victory. DeChambeau is still in the hunt for his second major championship and will hope to get it at the 2024 US Open.

His finish this week, however, has seen him shoot up the OWGR rankings. The LIV Golf Series has been denied OWGR ranking points ever since its inception, despite several appeals and protests. This has caused any golfers, who joined the Series, to drop down the World Rankings.

Before entering the PGA Championship, DeChambeau was ranked 124th in the world, owing to him only playing in the majors. However, his second-place finish saw him make a big leap up the OWGR board to World No. 35.

This is the first time that Bryson DeChambeau has cracked the top 50 in the world since he left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in 2022. DeChambeau will be playing at the 2024 US Open and will be looking to seal victory at the third major of the year.

Bryson DeChambeau disappointed but reassured after second-place finish at 2024 PGA Championship

The 2024 PGA Championship was a rollercoaster ride for Bryson DeChambeau, as he was in serious contention to win the tournament on the last day. However, Xander Schauffele's birdie on the last hole of the Valhalla Golf Course sealed his victory, denying DeChambeau a second major win.

Speaking about it after the event, DeChambeau said via Golf.com:

"On my side of the coin, disappointing, but, whatever. Didn’t strike it my best all week. Felt like I had my ‘B’ game pretty much.”

However, he also felt confident in his ability to perform well in a high-stakes situation once again. DeChambeau will be looking to better his performance at the US Open with a win. Speaking about his overall performance, DeChambeau said:

“There were obviously a couple misses, but every time I needed to get up-and-down I got up-and-down, and every time I needed to make a 6-7-footer I did. So definitely surprised myself, impressed myself and I know I can do it again, it’s just going to take some time.”

Schauffele took the win at the 2024 PGA Championship, with DeChambeau in second place and Viktor Hovland finishing third. Bryson DeChambeau will play the LIV Golf Houston event next from June 7 to 9, before heading off for the US Open, which will be held from June 13 to 16.
