Former NFL punter and sports analyst Patt McAfee applauded NASCAR, saying that the sport still retains its dare-devilish nature that the fans are so fond of. The discussion started with McAfee reacting to the fight between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch during the opening laps of the 2024 All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

On Lap 1, the JTG Daugherty Driver nudged Busch slightly into the wall. Although Busch's Richard Childress Racing Chevy did not suffer a lot of damage from the contact, he retaliated with a hard push on Stenhouse's rear bumper that ended the latter's day, forcing him to settle for a 20th-place finish.

Moments after the race was over, Stenhouse confronted Kyle Busch and soon, a series of punches followed, resulting in NASCAR security intervening and pulling the drivers apart. But the fight continued for some time between their respective crew members.

McAfee exclaimed while watching the clip:

"Stenhouse was waiting on him back at his truck... Bottle of water in Kyle Busch's (hand). 'I just finished the race; there's fireworks going off in the back. You keep telling people I rubbed you in the wall I didn't do that. You're dirty.' I don't know what the h*ll they are exactly saying but somebody's p*ssed about something. I believe there was a crash into the wall and somebody blaming somebody."
"Stenhouse throws a right (at) Kyle Busch's jaw, eats one then he falls over a tire," McAfee continued. "Ricky Stenhouse Sr. now throwing rights, trying to fight the h*ll out of Kyle Busch. Kyle Busch's crew says 'Get off the truck.' That guy needs to be signed to play left tackle. I'll tell you what, NASCAR still has their fastball."

NASCAR could suspend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for right-hooking Kyle Busch

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., his crew members, and his father Ricky Stenhouse Sr. could get suspended by NASCAR in the weeks to come. However, NASCAR could also penalize Kyle Busch if they feel he deliberately caused the wreck.

Before parting ways at NWS, Stenhouse Jr. made it clear that he would wreck Busch at Charlotte. As reported by ESPN, Bush replied:

"Bring it. I suck as bad as you."

The former Cup Series champion added:

"First lap of the race, we don’t even have water temp in the car yet and we’re wrecking each other. I am tired of getting run over by everybody. But that’s what everybody does: everybody runs over everybody to pass everybody."

However, Stenhouse Jr. denied having even touched Busch. Recalling the time he had once wrecked Busch at Daytona, Stenhouse Jr. said Busch has been bad-mouthing him ever since. However, he did mention that they got along okay outside of the racetrack.
