Carlton's coach, Michael Voss, expressed frustration following their defeat against Geelong in Round 7 of the 2024 AFL season on Saturday, April 27. The match ended with Geelong winning 118-105.

In a post-match interview, Voss expressed his disappointment with his team's performance and stated that he doesn't care about what could be perceived as a good effort or a close match to victory. He mentioned that they have their own standards, and they fell below those benchmarks in the match against Geelong.

Speaking of his team's performance, Voss said (via AFL.com):

"I don't want us to settle that it was a good effort, or that it was close. It was unacceptable and we've got to be better. We'd like to think that we benchmark ourselves off our own standards and we fell below those tonight on defending, so we've got to be better. We've got to expect better from each other."
"We shouldn't need the game to get to that stage to feel like we need to snatch it. In some ways you deserve what you get. We had individuals, I'm not really in the mood to talk up individuals today to be truthful. It takes a team to come out and play well … and as a team we didn't get the job done, so I'd like to think we all take ownership of that," he added.

Carlton has been playing quite well this season. They began with a win against Richmond, scoring 86-81. Next, Carlton defeated North Melbourne in Round 3 with an impressive score of 81-137, followed by another victory against Fremantle.

However, they faced defeat in Round 5 against Adelaide but quickly bounced back with a win against Greater Western Sydney. In the next match, Carlton will face Collingwood on May 3.
