Deepika Kumari wins silver medal

India’s Deepika Kumari won the silver medal in the Recurve Women Individual discipline at the Archery World Cup being held in Paris.

After winning against Alejandra Valencia in the semi-finals, the 19-year-old Indian could only manage ending up as second best to Yun Oh Hee of Korea.

Despite shooting a perfect 30 in her first attempt, the 2010 Commonwealth Games Gold medalist went down as a result of one really horrible shot in her third attempt, one in which she managed only 19.

The world number three’s scores read 30, 28, 19, 27, 29 as against the Korean player’s tally of 26, 28, 29, 28, 29. In the first round, she had defeated Roman Aida of Mexico.
