Archery World Cup 2024: Indian duo Jyothi and Verma advance to final, aim for victory in compound mixed team event on Day 4

The Indian duo of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma qualified for the final of the compound mixed team event in the Archery World Cup 2024. The second-seeded team received a bye in the first round of the event. They defeated Australia in the second round by 160-152.

In the quarter-finals, the Indian duo defeated Mariya Shkolna and Gilles Seywert of Luxembourg by 155-151. They prevailed over the Mexican team of Andrea Becerra and Lot Maximo Mendez Ortiz in the semi-finals by 155-151.

Vennam and Verma will meet eighth-seed Estonia in the final of the Archery World Cup 2024 on Saturday, April 27.

Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara lost the semi-final of the recurve mixed team against South Korea in straight sets 6-0. They will face Mexico for the bronze medal on Saturday. The Indian duo received a bye in the first round and defeated Türkiye in the second round. In the quarter-finals, India defeated the Czech Republic by 5-1.


Deepika Kumari qualifies for the semi-final of recurve women’s individual event in the Archery World Cup 2024

Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tarundeep Rai won their respective matches in the qualifying round of the recurve men’s individual event. Pravin Ramesh Jadhav lost the qualification match of the recurve men’s individual event against Jack Williams of the USA.

Both Dhiraj and Tarundeep won the first round of matches. Dhiraj defeated Chun-Heng Wei of Chinese Taipei by 6-5. Tarundeep won his match against Den Habjan Malavasic of Slovenia by 6-5. Dhiraj lost in the second round, while Tarundeep qualified for the quarter-finals. He lost the quarter-final match against Andres Temino by 7-3.

In the recurve women’s individual event, only Deepika Kumari won the qualification round. She defeated Do Thi Anh Nguyet in straight sets 6-0. She won the first round of the event against Katharina Bauer of Germany by 7-3. Deepika defeated the Italian archer Elisabetta Mijno in straight sets 6-0 in the second round. In the quarter-final, Deepika defeated Jeon Hunyoung by 6-4.

The Indian archers will compete for gold medals in all three compound team events of the Archery World Cup 2024 on Saturday. Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh will compete in the semi-final matches of compound women’s and men’s events, respectively.
