Colombian 400-metre runnner Diego Palomeque has been banned from competition for two years after testing positive before last year’s Olympics, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) said Tuesday.

The sprinter was provisionally suspended after failing a drugs test on his arrival in the British capital on July 26 and prevented from taking part in the one-lap race several days later.

Palomeque, 19, was banned from competition until August 11, 2014, the IAAF said in a statement.
