Video: IAAF want four year bans for doping

IAAF president Lamine Diack and vice president Sergey Bubka talk about doping bans.

Lamine Diack, IAAF President“Our feeling is that a 2 year-ban is not enough. I don’t think it is enough. We asked for the creation of the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and for consistent sanctions. We think a 2-year ban is not enough, others think it is too much. But we have made some progress, since it is now possible to apply a 4-year ban, but for that we need to prove that there were aggravating circumstances.”

Sergey Bubka, IAAF Vice president“Last year, since London we started to create a working group and establish guidelines for different sport institutions to implement sanctions against the entourage. Tomorrow, we will have the executive board with the IOC, and these guidelines will be approved, and the next step is that the international federations, the International Olympic Committee, national federations should use it and establish a sanction against the entourage. It is clear to understand the entourage can play a very important role.”
