Video: Pistorius 'very emotional' on return to training, says agent

SOUNDBITE: (English) Peet van Zyl, Oscar Pistorius‘ agent:“It was a very emotional experience for him to put the blades back on, walk onto the track, get the smell of the track, so it was tough for him. And also the session was very light work.”

“About a week ago or so he called us up and said, ‘guys I think I’m ready to resume training,’ so, yeah, we started yesterday with the first session on the track. Nothing major, just a light session to get him easing into it. He hasn’t been on the track in five months.”

“At some stage he said to me it was almost like a bittersweet kind of feeling and emotion for him to be back on the track.”

“I think the emotions yesterday showed just how much he really did miss being back on the track and be able to run and I think now, especially with the world championships, both Paralympic world championships and IAAF world championships getting closer, it’s getting more tougher for him not to be running or training or competing.”

“The big and only focus for him at this stage is the trial and the court proceedings that’s lying ahead. There’s no competitions planned at all.”
