Twelwe Indian players will take part in the Yonex Denmark Open 2013 tournament which will be held in the city of Odense from 15th October to 20th October. This USD 400,000 tournament is a Superseries Premier category tournament and is the fourth and second last Superseries Premier Tournament of the year.
On day 1 of the tournament 6 Indian players will be in action. 4 of the Indian shuttlers will start their campaign with the qualifying rounds.
In the second match of the day on Court No. 1 World No. 46 Sourabh Verma will take on the World No. 55 Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia in the first qualification round of the men’s singles category. Verma is the 4th seeded player in the qualification round. Match will start at around 4:15 P.M(IST).
Unfortunately there is no live telecast of the qualification rounds. Live telecast of the tournament will start from Oct 17.
Rising Indian badminton star and current World No. 31 K. Srikanth will play the World No. 69 Christian Lind Thompsen of Denmark in the first qualification round. Match will take place on Court 4 and is scheduled to start at 4:15 P.M(IST).
Another Indian shuttler and current World No. 33 Anand Pawar will take on the World ranked 88 local lad Quach Flemming in the first qualification round. If Anand Pawar wins his first qualification match then he could well face the top seeded in the qualification, Chen Yuekun of China in the final round. Match will be held on Court 2 and is scheduled to start at 4:15 P.M(IST).
HS Prannoy, who jumped 13 spots from 56 to 43 in the latest BWF World Rankings will play the 3rd seeded player in the qualification, Kento Momota of Japan in the first round. If Prannoy and Srikanth, both manged to win their first round matches then they will be up against each other for a place in the main draw.
In the first round of the mixed doubles category the World No. 33 Indian pair of Ashwini Ponappa and Tarun Kona will play the qualifiers in the opening round. Match will be held on Court 4 and will start at around 11:45 P.M (IST).
