Jwala Gutta wants to open her own badminton academy

Badminton doubles specialist Jwala Gutta has said that she plans to open a badminon academy in her home town of Hyderabad.
The main reason behind such a move is said to be her unhappiness at how the sport is being run at the moment, especially her displeasure with national coach P. Gopichand, who also runs an academy in the same city. She has accused Gopichand of favouritism and not giving a fair chance to players not from his academy.”Yes, I am planning to open an academy. I am in talks with the government and have already sent my proposal to them. With the way the sport is being run in India, I thought of starting my own academy where nothing but badminton will be taught. Let us see how things turn out,” Jwala said speaking on the sidelines of the National Badminton Championship in New Delhi on Saturday.

Jwala also added that she would not need any new land to be allotted to her for this purpose.

“There are enough sports infrastructural facilities already available in Hyderabad which are not being used. We can use them and all help will be welcome whether it is from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) or anywhere,” added Jwala.
