New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) World No.1 and Mumbai Masters icon player Lee Chong Wei may not play in the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL) that started here on Wednesday.

The Malaysian, on Sunday, retired from the World Championship men’s singles final with cramps against Lin Dan in Guangzhou, China.

He was supposed to arrive here Wednesday for the IBL opening ceremony, but the two-time Olympic silver medallist has delayed his travel.

“Lee Chong Wei is supposed to come tomorrow. Whether he will play the tournament or not, we do not know,” Mumbai Masters co-owner V. Chamundeshwarnath told IANS on Wednesday.

Mumbai Masters take on Banga Beats in their opening match on Thursday and with Chong Wei arriving on the same day, raises questions on his availability.

Lee Chong Wei was bought by Mumbai Masters for a whopping $135,000.
