Rio Olympics 2016: Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy win their last Group match to end on a positive note

The Indian duo of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy finished their 2016 Rio Olympics campaign on a winning note, beating the 8th ranked pairing of Kenichi Hayakawa and Hiroyuki Endo in straight games 23-21 21-10 in their Group D match on Saturday.

The Indian duo began the match on a blazing note, racing away to an 8-3 lead before the Japanese duo fought back to win the next 8 out of the 9 points straight and lead 11-9 at the break,

It seemed like they would race away with the game after the break, but at the 13-17 mark, the tide began to shift as Attri and Reddy started to claw their way back into the game. The gap narrowed down steadily and they finally made it 20-19 in their favour before holding their nerve to clinch the game 23-21.

The second game proved to be a completely one-sided affair as Attri and Reddy dominated from the word go, putting enormous pressure on their opponents to lead 11-5 at the break before winning the game 21-10 to end their campaign on a positive note.
