Saina Nehwal capitulates in the quarterfinals of Denmark Open

Star Indian shuttler and World No. 4 Saina Nehwal lost to the World No. 6 Korean shuttler Ji HyunSung 21-13 18-21 19-21 in a nail biting encounter which lasted for an hour and 6 minutes.

Saina started the first game with a bang as she took a strong 3 points lead in the initial part of the game. After that Sung made a good comeback to make the scores 4-4. Saina, who was trailing by smallest of the margins at the mid game interval of the first game grabbed the next 5 points to make the scores 15-11. From 15-13, Saina took the next 6 points in a row to win the first game 21-13.

Saina’s start to the second game was quite good as she was leading by 6-2 at one stage but after then Sung grabbed the next 4 points to make the scores 6 all. Saina, who was leading by 11-10 at the mid game interval of the second game lost 4 points in quick succession to the World No 6.

After that Sung completely dominated the second game. However Saina saved 3 game points at 15-20 but was unable to save the next and hence lost the game 18-21.

The third game was a lot more evenly contested. Both the players were fighting hard for each and every point. Saina was leading by 9-7 at one stage but Sung won the next two points to back level the scores. From 13-13 Saina took a strong 3 points lead to make the scores 16-13 but Sung was not ready to give up as she again leveled the scores. At 19 all Saina lost the next couple of points to lose the game and hence the match.

This year has not been quite good for the Hyderabadi star as she has not won even a single Superseries Tournament. Saina Nehwal will next play the French Open Superseries tournament which will start from 22 Oct.
