Shuttler Kashyap drops a place to 20th in world rankings

Chennai - Reigning national champion Parupalli Kashyap dropped a place to be placed 20th in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released Thursday.

The London Olympics quarter-finalist, who was recently crowned the men’s singles national champion sits on 42846.69 points.

Mumbai’s Ajay Jayaram also dropped a place to 27th. He was the runner-up to Kashyap in the national championships concluded last week.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, London Olympics bronze medallist Saina Nehwal retains her fourth position. She has a chance of going up the ladder in the upcoming Denmark Open which starts Oct 16.

Hyderabad’s P.V. Sindhu also dropped a place to be ranked 21st. She lost the national championships’ women’s singles final to Sayali Gokhale of Pune.
