BFI, FIBA and NBA have come together to organise Basketball Coaching Certification Courses in four zones of the country to enrich the knowledge of Indian coaches on teaching the fundamentals to youth.

These coaching clinics will provide more than 120 coaches with the opportunity to receive FIBA Level 1 Coaching Certification and BFI Certification.

Mumbai from the West Zone was the first of the four cities to host courses at Don Bosco High School, Matunga from December 8-14. New Delhi is currently hosting courses for North Zone at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall from December 16-22.

The courses will also be held in a southern and eastern city during February 2014. Coaches from FIBA and Foreign coaches are conducting certification course under BFI/FIBA during these coaches clinics.

Nelson Isley, FIBA & Troy Justice, Senior Director of Basketball Operations, NBA India, said: “I am very satisfied with the attendance of the Indian coaches at the clinic.

“They have shown a lot of interest and are open to learning new basketball coaching techniques. It has been a very positive experience for me in India.”
