CWG 2018: BFI Announces Women's National Basketball Team

Indian National Women's Basketball Team celebrating their elevation to Division A of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup.

With less than a month left for the 2018 Commonwealth Games to tip-off in Gold Coast, Australia, the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) announced the Women's National Team that will be representing the nation in the 8-team tournament.

The Federation announced the roster with a Facebook post late on Saturday evening (10th March).

The Basketball games are scheduled from April 5th to the 15th with the Women's team being part of Pool B, that also has countries like Jamaica, New Zealand, and Malaysia. The Indian team is scheduled to play its games on April 5th (Jamaica), April 7th (Malaysia), and April 8th (New Zealand).

It's quite simple for the Indian team and members of Pool B. The top two teams from this group, after the round robin games, qualify for the Quarterfinals, where they will play the bottom, two teams of the Pool A.

Pool A also has four teams, the host Australia and the top three teams in the FIBA Rankings. Mozambique, Canada, and England are the other three teams in Pool A. The top two teams from Pool A directly qualify for the Semifinals.

The team is to be coached by Serbian Zoran Visic.
