JJ Redick asserts LA Lakers should acquire Bojan Bogdanovic to help LeBron James

JJ Redick revealed that he believes the LA Lakers should make a push to acquire Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic. Speaking on his podcast, The Old Man and the Three, the former NBA player was asked which team he thinks is the best fit for Bogdanovic, to which he responded:

"Lakers. Just give me someone on the Lakers. I actually think if the Lakers can get a guy like him, or him, they're a good basketball team. I mean, LeBron what he's doing right now, I think just turned 38. They're on a hot streak right now. They've won five in a row. They're sitting in eleventh. They are tied in the loss column with the Clippers who are in sixth."

Redick speculated on a potential package, adding:

"I don't know what Detroit is expecting if they do decide to move him around the deadline. 2027, 2029 picks, I don't know, does that get it done? We'll see."

The Lakers have held out on trading their future picks in the hopes that they can use them to acquire a star. If it becomes clear that they aren't able to make such a move, Bogdanovic would not be a bad consolation prize. The Lakers were reportedly unwilling to include one unprotected first-round pick in a deal for Bogdanovic.

How has Bojan Bogdanovic performed during the 2022-2023 NBA season?

Bojan Bogdanovic is in the midst of the best season of his NBA career. The ninth-year forward is currently averaging a career-high 21.0 points per game while shooting 48.4% from the field, 41.6% from 3-point range, and 89.4% from the free-throw line. He is also averaging 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 0.6 steals per game.

While Bogdanovic has had a very strong season, the same cannot be said for the Detroit Pistons. Bogdanovic's team is just 11-32 and currently sits in last place in the Eastern Conference.

While Bogdanovic is under contract through the 2024-2025 season, he will turn 34 in April. Even if the Pistons are able to turn things around and become competitive before his contract expires, it is unlikely that he will be a key part of things as his timeline does not match that of their young core.
