“I understand you’re the new age dad, but this is a little too cool” – Cam’ron shares advice for Tee Morant after Ja Morant’s gun incident

Cam'ron gives advice to Tee Morant regarding Ja Morant

During his rise to superstardom, Ja Morant and his family became icons on NBA Twitter. Most notably, his father Tee Morant.

These days, Memphis Grizzlies fans see Tee Morant courtside cheering on his son. He was also a common fixture in postgame interviews during last year's playoffs.

Ja Morant is in the headlines now, but for the wrong reasons. After being seen flashing a gun on Instagram, the All-Star point guard has checked into a counseling center in Florida. He was originally suspended for two games, but now it remains unclear if and when he will return.

As this situation continues to unfold, some have shifted the focus to Tee Morant. During an appearance on "It Is What It Is," hip-hop artist Cam'ron feels he needs to do a better job as a role model for his son.

“You gotta start being a more father figure…the sunglasses, the wilding out trying to fight Shannon Sharpe, having look alike contests with Usher. I understand you’re the new age dad, but this is a little too cool. Tee Morant, we have to set a better example.”

Is Tee Morant to blame for Ja Morant going off-course?

Cam'ron might make some valid points, but it's hard to put all the blame on Tee Morant. Most of it stems from the current situation of today's star athletes.

Since NBA players enter the league so young now, it allows them to sign big contracts younger than the eras before them. Ja Morant is only 23 years old and signed a contract last summer for nearly $200 million. Along with his endorsement deals, he's been able to make a good living for himself at a very young age.

With the opportunity, comes great responsibility for Morant. While it's no excuse, it's not surprising that guys in their mid-20s don't know how the handle the fame and fortune that comes with their life.

On the other hand, some of this could be put on Tee Morant. Like Cam'ron said, he's been known to get into crazy antics while courtside at Memphis Grizzlies games. Most might consider him an easygoing parent, but he is still someone he looks up to.

Things might not look good now, but Morant has taken a big step in the right direction. This decision could cost him a large bonus, but it's for the best. The former No. 2 pick has a long career ahead of him and doesn't want it cut short for the wrong reasons.
