The matchup is a major headline in the NBA. With the intercity rivalry setting the stage for some exciting basketball, fans were bound to take note of the game.

The Lakers haven't been particularly successful while facing the Clippers in recent years. Both teams have seen major changes over the years, but the Clippers have emerged as the more competitive side.

Thursday night proved to be no different. With the Lakers coming off a loss and the Clippers playing their first game of the season, the latter managed to notch their first win of the season.

In a 103-97 win, the Clippers started off strong. The game saw the return of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, while John Wall made his Clippers debut.

Here are some of the best reactions to the game from fans on Twitter:

As the Clippers rejoiced in their first win of the season, the Lakers found themselves in murky waters.

With a 0-2 start, the Lakers find themselves in the bottom rung of the Western Conference. If the team is to stay a competitive playoff side, they need to make some significant adjustments soon.

After a horrendous 3-point shooting performance in their season opener, the LA Lakers continued to do more of the same on Thursday.

The Lakers shot 10 of 40 from beyond the arc in their season opener against the Golden State Warriors. They took a backstep against the Clippers as they went 9-for-45 from the 3-point range.

The Lakers' defensive unit showed up, restricting the Clippers to just 103 points, but their offense struggled again. The backcourt of Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley and Kendrick Nunn had a torrid time on Thursday. The three combined for 1-of-16 from beyond the arc.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Lonnie Walker IV impressed, but the rest of the team didn't show up against the LA Clippers. Davis had an injury scare, but the big man returned to play and ended the night with 25 points and eight rebounds.

The Lakers find themselves looking down the barrel this early in the season. With the flaws in their roster made surprisingly evident, the Lakers will need to make some significant adjustments to stop the bleeding.

Fans are calling for a trade to bring Buddy Hield and Myles Turner out of the Indiana Pacers. With that in mind, the LA Lakers front office may have their work cut out for them.
