Anthony Davis' future might drastically change very soon. He just finished his fourth season with the LA Lakers, but he might be traded to the Dallas Mavericks this summer.

The 6-foot-10 forward has two more years left on his contract, but the Lakers might be interested in moving him. LeBron James is uncertain regarding his future, which is why the Lakers could decide to completely retool their roster for the upcoming season.

According to Colin Cowherd, the Mavericks have had their eyes on Anthony Davis. Considering that he's under contract, the only way they could acquire him is through a trade.

Anthony Davis will have to be traded to the Dallas Mavericks

The LA Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. This was their 11th sweep in franchise history, making them the most swept team in the NBA playoffs.

LeBron James might retire after this season, which is why Anthony Davis would be the first option on the team. However, he hasn't been consistent enough to lead the team, so the LA Lakers might be interested in moving him.

The Dallas Mavericks could be his next destination, although there are a few obstacles if Davis wants to go down to Texas.

If the Lakers decide to retool their roster, they will likely be interested in trading with an Eastern Conference team. Trading within a conference is not a great move, which is why the Lakers may decide against it.

Furthermore, Davis will make $40.6 million next season. The Dallas Mavericks have spent most of their money on Luka Doncic, and their second highest-paid player is Tim Hardaway Jr.

A trade with for Anthony Davis will be hard to pull due to matching salaries. However, the Mavericks will likely bring Kyrie Irving back in free agency, and he could be used in a potential trade.

Irving is a fantastic player, but he achieved horrible results with the Mavericks. Despite this, Mark Cuban will likely re-sign him in free agency, which opens up the possibility of sending him to Los Angeles.

If LeBron James doesn't retire, there is no doubt that he'd love to play alongside Kyrie Irving once again. Sending Anthony Davis to Dallas would improve the Mavericks, but it could also land the Lakers another star, so it could potentially be a win-win scenario.
