With WNBA Draft 2024 over, it's time for the NBA Draft 2024. In this offseason of transfer, many players have already declared for the draft, while many others have announced their transfer portal decision. Amid the transfers, fans are curious to know about Kentucky's DJ Wagner's decision.

Is DJ Wagner going to the NBA?

According to 247Sports, DJ Wagner is not going to the NBA, but he has reportedly entered the transfer portal after the exit of Kentucky's head coach, John Calipari.

Wagner's time with Kentucky was not particularly successful.

He averaged 9.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in the 2023–24 season. DJ Wagner was a five-star recruit from the class of 2023 and was considered a top combo guard in the nation. He was also a part of the 2023 McDonald's All-American team.

The 6-foot-4 guard played for Camden in high school. He scored 2,040 points for them and was named Courier Player of the Year three times.

Wagner rejected Louisville to join Kentucky. He was considering joining Louisville first because his grandfather, Milt Wagner, was previously the director of player development and alumni relations. However, he ended up joining Kentucky and John Calipari.

Wagner was expected to do wonders at Kentucky; however, he failed. He even failed to score a single point in Kentucky's first-round defeat in the NCAA Tournament 2024 against Oakland, with a scoreline of 80-76.

However, Wagner is not the first player to enter the transfer portal this year for Kentucky. The program is going through a major roster change after Calipari left and was replaced by a new head coach, Mark Pope.

Aaron Bradshaw, ranked No. 6 in the ESPN Top 100 for the class of 2023, was a major player for Kentucky. On Monday, he declared his commitment to Ohio State. Reed Sheppard, the player who led Kentucky last season, has also filed for the NBA Draft.
