#2 Highest partnership in a Ranji Trophy match 594 runs (Swapnil Gugale and Ankit Bawne)

The dynamic Maharashtrian duo

It was a historical day at the Wankhede stadium, as two Maharashtra batsmen Swapnil Gugale and Ankit Bawne were battling it out with the Delhi bowlers for nearly two days, moving towards a mounting partnership of 594 runs. The dynamic duo batted together to add 594 runs to the total and went on to be a part of the record highest partnership for any wicket in a Ranji Trophy match.

Gugale and Bawne against Delhi scored unbeaten 351 and 258 respectively and registered the record of highest partnership for any wicket in Ranji Trophy's history. They scrapped the 70 years old previous partnership record of 577 for the fourth wicket set by Vijay Hazare and Gul Mohammed for Baroda against Holkar in 1946-57.

Gugale's 351 off 521 balls contained 5 sixes and 37 fours, while his third wicket partner Bawane who remained not out on 258 struck 18 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. They missed out on the world record partnership of 624 runs in first-class cricket set by Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, by just 30 odd runs.
