Arrest warrant and a hundred – It’s a mixed day for Umar Akmal!

A local court in Lahore today issued an arrest warrant for Pakistani batsman Umar Akmal, who is currently with the national cricket team in Bangladesh for Asia Cup, DAWN reported.

The warrant has been issued for breaking traffic rules and getting into a brawl with a traffic warden. The court has ordered Akmal to be presented before the bench on 11th March following his arrest. The Asia Cup final is scheduled on 8th March.

Akmal was involved in a controversy earlier this month on 1st February when he was arrested for breaking a traffic signal in Lahore and allegedly getting into a brawl with a traffic cop.

He was detained, and released a day later on bail. Umar has denied all charges, and also claimed that he was harassed by the cop.

The 23-year-old earlier today hit a potentially match-saving hundred against Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup encounter when he rescued his team from doldrums, hitting 102 off just 89 deliveries.

Pakistan, once struggling at 117/6, posted a respectable 248/8 at the end of the innings.
