A heartfelt appeal from an Indian cricket fan to Team India

India need to take some bold steps

Just a lean patch, or is it something more than that which has hit Indian cricket off late? Pathetic it has been and the overseas woes seem to go on and on.

Lots of if’s and buts’ will be the recipe of the cr** that is being given as reasons for under performing. The team management can do away with those reasons. A true Indian cricket fan will be in a distressed situation for a couple of weeks, but will move on as the time will pass.

It has been aptly said that time heals the wounds and it surely will because India will play the Asia cup starting last week of February on a sub-continent strip.

Openers are being questioned for their pathetic form. If they are given another chance, it is for sure that they will cash in on the opportunity because they know how to handle the willow on a ‘desi’ strip. Again some overseas tour will be due and we will surrender like cowards.

All this has to be addressed. World Cup is due next year and with the kind of superb form our players have shown, nothing better than a first round exit is on the cards.

The openers and the bowlers have let down India every single time. Somebody is standing 1 and half feet outside the crease to face someone who bowls at a speed of 150 kph. Isn’t that stupid? The greats of Indian cricket have questioned the technique of Shikhar Dhawan and rightly so. Rohit Sharma is back to what he was.

The CSK side of the Indian team has put them in a chaotic situation. Why isn’t Raina, Ashwin getting dropped? Ashwin is there as a bowler, right? What the hell he has been to in recent times? Why are the selectors overlooking somebody like Parvez Rasool. He is the man in form and somebody like him should get a chance straightaway.

Shikhar and Rohit have flopped. The social media is flooded with status updates and tweets demanding Gambhir and Sehwag to be back. What great have they done off late to deserve a chance in squad of 15 which represents 1.5 billion people? Sehwag averaged worse than Nehra this Ranji season!

MS Dhoni has to take some bold decisions. A plan needs to be chalked out. Underperforming guys have to go and a bit of favouritism from his side has to reduce. We need ‘fast’ bowlers. Confidence has to be shown in players like Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav. MS dhoni has to promote himself up the order and let somebody like Jadeja or Binny take up the responsibility of finishing games. It’s high time somebody like Cheteswar Pujara gets a ODI call up.

Number 1 ranking has already been surrendered to a team which rarely wins tournaments at home or overseas. We need people who put their country on their priority list and not the IPL. Yes, we do have a few of them.

A billion things are being written against the Indian team and they deserve these brickbats. This is high time when the BCCI thinks from a cricketing point of view rather than focus on the new concept of ‘ The Big three’.
