Hunt for new Pakistan skipper to begin post T20 World Cup, says PCB chief

Pakistan's loss to an under-pressure Indian team at the 2016 T20 World Cup has not gone down too well with Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan. He openly expressed his displeasure over the turn of events while speaking to a British news agency, as reported by Geo News.

Khan dismissed their chances of success in the ongoing T20 World Cup by saying, "Pakistan ranks seventh in the T20 format. So the country should not pin much hope on the team." The PCB chief was disgruntled about the team's failure to pick up wickets in the high-stakes clash against arch-rivals India.

Shahryar Khan was also very critical of the team selection for the match against the Indians and felt that there was no need to include Mohammad Sami. He said, "If three fast bowlers could not help the team win, a fourth would not make things better. There should have been a spinner in the team."

Even Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi did not escape the wrath of the PCB chairman, who made a big statement about the former's fate in the days to come. "His future is evident. After the World Twenty20 ends, we will begin looking for another captain," Khan was quoted saying about Afridi.

When asked about the coach of the Pakistan cricket team, legendary Waqar Younis, Shahryar Khan stated, "His contract ends in June. We will rethink our decision over him."

Pakistan still have two games in hand, against Australia and New Zealand, to make a case for the semi-finals. There is a chance that the PCB chief's opinion may change drastically if the team makes it to the knockout round.
