The India-Bangladesh fixture has been a feisty one of late with fans from both nations making the contest more thrilling than it was ever before. Ahead of the match, Bangladesh had never won a single game in T20Is against India. India held on to their nerves to complete what was a breathtaking finish to the World T20 fixture.

Bangladesh started the chase of the target of 147 in a brilliant manner with Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman playing shots well and luck favouring them a fair bit too. Mahmudullah seemed like perfectly playing the role of a finisher, however, drama in the last over of the match meant that India came back with a bang to snatch a win out of nowhere.

Ravichandran Ashwin was named the man-of-the-match for his bowling figures of 2/20 in 4 overs. Ashwin said, “We've never really got together and worried so much. I don;t have anything left. I'm drained after today's game. I'll just crash now. He had put down a catch, he was 2 overs for 22, he was down, but Bumrah came back for us.

“I probably gave him a cheeky idea to try a mankad in the end. We might have taken flak, but why not. We have not probably batted well. Today, we are not real contenders for the tournament, but if it improves we will be.

“I felt when Tamim's sweep in the air I thought we were in control, but when he put it down, later on I put one down. I had so much of emotions going through. But for the team to go all the way is what's important.”

Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza, expressed his disappointment: “We were on top till the last three balls, we could have taken singles. But anyways, bad luck. The last three balls, we lost three wickets, we needed only two runs off three balls.

“Especially today it is really disappointing. Overall we played well, except Pakistan. Today it is disappointing.”

Winning captain, MS Dhoni had this to say: “Often it does, at times you look to finish it with the big shot. And if you think you have wickets in hand, you think others can finish it. And when you are batting well, you go for your shots. Its a learning for Mahmudullah. That's what cricket is all about, If that had gone for a six, it was a great shot. Great courage.

“That's what cricket is. I feel before you play the shot, that's when he has to decide. Bumrah bowled really well, the second over that he bowled, he was under pressure, with the field restrictions. It was a reflection of his misfield and the dropped catch, but he had to forget about what happened and that's what we told. I feel he is somebody who is very good with the yorkers and he did very well.

“There were two occasions when we had to make the game and instead of using our part-timers and we bowled our frontliners. It was a very good bowling effort.

“[What did you tell Pandya before the last ball?] There were quite a few stuff we were discussing, one thing was for sure we don't want to bowl a yorker, it had to be back of a length, but how back of a length, that was the question. You don't want to bowl a wide. We were deciding out field and I think he executed really well.”
