Archana Vijaya, the 'best thing to happen to Cricket since IPL' !

Archana Vijaya is from Hyderabad and is one of the most stunning TV show hosts in the country. She currently hosts Extra Cover-Tour Dairy on Neo Sports besides numerous other shows.

Anshu : GQ Magazine says you are the best thing to happen to Cricket since IPL ! And , I am sure a lot of guys agree with GQ . What’s your take ?

Archana Vijaya : Its a great feeling when you work hard and people appreciate what you do…having a well reputed magazine say that about me was very humbling to say the least…I try to give everything in my life my best shot…and I love my work .. so am glad that comes through.I have had a first-hand experience of seeing and interacting with cricket -crazy fans, travelling the length and breadth of our amazingly diverse country, tasting some of the best culinary delights and met with sporting legends, all which have been a dream come true for me!! here’s to many more to come!! cheers!

Anshu : How do you manage to be so supremely fit and glamorous? Is it just good genes or …

Archana Vijaya : gotta thank my mummy and my daddy at some stage, so this is it.. thanks for the genes! lol! diligent visits to the gym, yoga sessions, the salon, spa, nail-bar etc etc come pretty handy too!!;)

Anshu : Model , VJ , Sports Anchor ! How do you manage all roles ?

Archana Vijaya : its a bit hectic, but super fun at the same time, coz they are all different genres of the same industry, mixin’ things up a bit keeps me going!!

Anshu : Have you always been a Cricket fan ?

Archana Vijaya : Ive always been a fan of sport, I have enjoyed watching sports from a young age. In school i was an athlete, played basketball, volleyball etc. I enjoy the merit factor of sports, if you play well , you win and if u dont, you lose. (barring match/ spot fixing that is) I love cricket now more than ever having been associated it with so closely for the last 3 and half years. I also enjoy watching football, tennis, gymnastics, swimming etc..

Anshu : You have toured along with the Indian Team quite a lot. Which has been your most cherished moment ?

Archana Vijaya : To be present on the field when Indian superstars have reached milestones in their lives or India has created history has been very special, Sachin’s 200 O.D.I runs, Viru’s triple ton against S.A. India winning the Border-Gavaskar trophy, the India vs Pak game in Dambulla this year where Bhajji was the star.. India ‘s recent Asia Cup win after 15 years also this year.. all have been amazing moments.. meeting the players after the game for a quick chat or Dhoni giving me his playing cap after we won the Asia Cup are all moments to be cherished…apart from that my candid interviews with cricketing legends and young-guns showcasing a lighter-side of them to the viewers has always been very interesting!

Anshu : Who are the most dashing Cricketers in your view ?

Archana Vijaya : In my opinion dashing cricketers are those who are great on and off the field, lets begin with the indians first- Sachin Tendulkar tops that list, because he is the epitome of a “humble legend”. Love Dhoni for his composure and his ability to focus on the task at hand against all odds! Gauti for being a powerhouse of talent and a true match winner, and also someone who says ” i looooove playing play station” off the field!! love it! Yuvi for being highly misunderstood , he is the finest hitters of the cricket ball. Suresh Raina , amazing guy on and off the field with a very bright future ahead of him! Viru- need I say anything? legend of the sport!

Adam Gilchrist- A true gentleman.

Bret lee- Super cute and multi-talented

Paul Collingwood- he is a genuinely nice bloke and a good captain, finally made Eng win the World T20 title!

Anshu : Something which we don’t know about you ?

Archana Vijaya : I’m a bit of a cleanliness freak, I don’t like clutter, which applies to my life to- I like to keep it simple and organised.

Having a laugh is one of my most favorite things, either on myself or at someone else’s expense…it’s all good!

I’m a bit of a shopoholic, but hey! which woman isnt?!
