The Mumbai Indians (MI) will face off against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their final league game of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, May 21.

The five-time champions need to win to give themselves a shot at making the playoffs. Three of the four spots have already been decided, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) - who play later in the day - and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the running as well.

MI have won three of their last five matches against SRH, including their meeting earlier in the season. However, they come into this game on the back of a disappointing loss to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and will want to strike the right combination.

Here is MI's predicted playing XI for Match 69 of IPL 2023 against SRH.

Note: Playing XIs are bound to vary majorly in IPL 2023, with the introduction of the impact player rule as well as captains having the chance to name their side after the result of the toss is known.

Rohit Sharma seems to have broken out of a terrible slump that saw him reel off single-digit score after single-digit score. Although the MI skipper hasn't been able to carry on and cross the 50-run mark, he has played a couple of important innings in the last two matches.

Tilak Varma has been missing from action for quite a while now, first with illness and then with a hamstring injury. There has been no official word on his availability, but he could replace Vishnu Vinod in the side if he has recovered sufficiently for this all-important clash.

MI will be fretting over the form of Chris Jordan, who has once again proven to be an unreliable bowler in the shortest format. They don't have any better replacements for the Englishman and also might not be tempted to make a change so late in their campaign. Thus, Jordan could retain his place in the side.

Mumbai will likely bring Kumar Kartikeya into the mix against a rightie-heavy SRH batting lineup, with Hrithik Shokeen probably making way for the left-arm spinner. Either Kartikeya or Akash Madhwal could come in as the impact player, with the rest of the team bound to wear a similar look.

MI's predicted playing XI for Match 69 of IPL 2023: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Chris Jordan, Jason Behrendorff, Piyush Chawla, Kumar Kartikeya.

Impact player candidates: Vishnu Vinod, Akash Madhwal, Raghav Goyal, Ramandeep Singh, Hrithik Shokeen.
