Team India captain Rohit Sharma has become only the third batter in international cricket and the first Indian to reach 300 sixes in ODIs.

He joins the elite list in the ongoing 2023 World Cup clash against Pakistan, including retired Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi (351), and West Indies' Chris Gayle (331).

The incident occurred in the 9th over of the innings bowled by Haris Rauf, who was sending down his first. The right-handed batter danced down the pitch and sent the ball over the mid-on fence to reach the milestone. Rohit came into the match only three sixes short of the unique landmark.

Until that point, the Men in Blue had lost only one wicket as Shubman Gill cut a wide delivery from Shaheen Shah Afridi, but Shadab Khan took the catch.

Meanwhile, the toss fell in favor of the veteran Indian batter after Babar Azam called it. Rohit explained that the decision to bowl first was due to the dew factor in the evening. However, it received mixed reactions from the fans.

Nevertheless, India's disciplined bowling performance ensured the visitors were kept to only 191 in 42.5 overs. The Men in Green started well before Mohammed Siraj and Hardik Pandya sent their openers back to the pavilion.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan shared a partnership of 82 runs, which seemed to have kept Pakistan in excess of 250. However, Babar's wicket in the 30th over sparked a stunning collapse.

They lost their remaining seven wickets for only 29 runs. All the bowlers, except Shardul Thakur, took two wickets each. Pakistan are on track for their 8th consecutive loss to their arch-rivals in 50-over World Cups, having lost all their previous ones dating back to 1992.
