IPL Auctions 2014: RCB lodge complaint after spending extra money on Yuvraj Singh

Sahara Force India Team Principle Vijay Mallya welcomes Sergio Perez as their new driver on December 12, 2013 in London, England.

RCB owner Vijay Mallya has lodged an official complaint against KKR.

Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Vijay Mallya has placed a formal complaint to the IPL governing council against Kolkata Knight Riders after his side paid an extra Rs. 4 crore to get Yuvraj Singh on their side.

“For me the hammer went down at 10 crores for Yuvraj Singh. We have officially written to the IPL governing council for the decision to be overturned,” Mallya told Times Now.

Apparently RCB’s 10 crore bid for Yuvraj Singh was contested by Kolkata Knight Riders after they joined in the bidding. But, auctioneer Richard Madley failed to notice the paddle raised by KKR. However, he re-opened the bid and RCB ended up paying Rs. 14 crore eventually after KKR withdrew their bid at Rs 13.5 crores.

Virat Kohli, our captain, was very keen on him. That extra Rs 4 crores was somewhat unfortunate, but the auctioneer has the sole discretion. Everybody saw him look around the room before the hammer fell but he then chose to continue the bidding. So life must go on,” added Mallya.

“They filed a complaint asking Yuvraj should be given to them at 10 crores and not 14, but we can’t do anything now,” Ranjib Biswal, IPL confirmed receiving a complaint from RCB.
