Sreesanth experiencing problems with sleep and talks incoherently, says mother

Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, who was caught in a spot fixing controversy, is experiencing problems with his sleep and talks incoherently, according to his mother. The fast bowler is out on bail now.

In a talk show named “Nammal Thammil” on Malayalam TV channel Asianet, the 30-year-old’s mother Savithri Amma said: “ Some times he says something and then follows up with something else. When I walk into his room at 2 AM, he would be looking out through his window. Even with the reassurance of the family around, he finds it hard to sleep and refuses to switch off the lights in the room.”

She also declared that the man in a hood, who was claimed to be Sreesanth, during the parade by the Delhi police was not her son at all. “It was somebody else, not my son. I can recognise my son even in darkness. He was nowhere in that picture. It was fake.”

Ruling out the involvement of his team mates, the cricketer’s mother told she did not know how it had happened.

The cricketer’s sister, Divya, also affirmed the controversial statement made by her mother. She said: “There were so many signs including the physical features of the man in hood to confirm that he was not my brother. Sreesanth also told us he was nowhere to be found in the scene.”

On being questioned about Sreesanth’s dubious relationship with girls, his mother said: “What is wrong with a 30-year old boy having friends who are girls?”

His sister added: “Sreesanth is very sentimental and easily cries if he is let down by people close to him but he doesn’t keep any grouse against anybody.” She cited the example of how Sreesanth safeguarded his wicket instead of throwing it away to help Harbhajan Singh score his century in a test match.
