The contracts offered by Sri Lankan cricket board has been rejected by the players, as their demands for a share from the income generated by ICC events has been rejected.

“The national players have refused to sign the contracts forwarded to them in Bangladesh,” reports have suggested.

“They had ignored the governing body’s e-mails.”

Players across all categories were offered a seven per-cent hike by the Sri Lankan board, however they had ignored the demand of the players for the revenue generated from ICC events like World Cup, be shared with them.

Further, the players wanted 20 per-cent share from the income of ICC image rights.

Last year in December, ahead of the Bangladesh tour, the players had to be persuaded to go ahead with the visit by Chairman of Selectors Sanath Jayasuriya and a government minister, despite the row over contract.

The players’ demand has been deemed unfair by the SLC, who have said that out of the total income generated, 58% are spent on player’s salary only. After the seven per cent hike, the players in the top bracket are set to earn Rs. 55 million each.
